Founded in 2020, Harmony Nutrascience Group Inc, is an innovative hemp company that is utilizing agriculture and plant sciences as a vehicle to realize inclusive economic prosperity and social equity in the U.S. and around the globe. Our goal is to use hemp to improve people’s health and wellness, bring impactful bio-friendly solutions to industry and help protect the earth and its resources. Harmony focuses on inclusion and diversity in all aspects of the hemp value chain including cultivation, processing, manufacturing, logistics, packaging and sales. Through our portfolio of businesses we design, develop and partner with cultivators and processing facilities, manage supply chains and distribute wholesale products to large and small customers alike in legal hemp-derived CBD and industrial hemp markets.
How we got here?
Back in the day prevailing public opinion and a lobby influenced Congress passed the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, which effectively outlawed the possession of cannabis—including hemp—after thousands of years of growth and use. While that law was repealed in the late 1960s, cannabis was quickly included as a Schedule 1 drug (the most “dangerous” class of drugs including heroin) in the Controlled Substances Act, a designation which continues to this day.
After 81 years, the 2018 Farm Bill was introduced and represents the single most impactful legislation to positively counteract the destructive legacy of the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937. The 2018 Farm Bill officially reclassifies hemp for commercial uses after decades of statutes and legal enforcement conflating hemp and marijuana, the Farm Bill distinguishes between the two by removing hemp from the Controlled Substances Act.
Harmony works with its partners at all levels of the supply chain to help develop the global hemp ecosystem and supply chain. Our economically and socially inclusive model focuses on underserved and underrepresented groups to enhance the use case for hemp as a solution to several of the major problems facing today’s world. Now instead of importing over $100 million of hemp products every year, that money will go to American farmers and entrepreneurs. Harmony’s long term plan for hemp is profitable , sustainable and economically + socially inclusive. All the right ingredients for a Bright Green Future.
A burgeoning international superstar has entered the building and Industrial Hemp does not appear to be exiting left anytime soon. Hemp is a super cash crop that can be utilized across the globe and uses a fraction of the resources, cultivation time or pesticides that cotton, corn or soybeans require. Hemp is an extremely versatile plant, from CBD oil to hemp fiber, there are over 25,000 different uses for hemp. Every part of the hemp plant can contribute to an endless supply of products not limited to: textiles, skincare, beauty and building supplies. While traditional paper production requires four to 10 acres of trees, hemp can produce it in one acre and while trees take 20+ years to grow – hemp can reach maturity in about four months. Fortune 500 and global conglomerates are being held to international standards of accountability for providing environmentally sustainable biodegradable products and packing – which encourages continuous exploration and development of hemp plastics and other suitable bio-alternatives. Biodiesel is also a great alternative to petroleum based fuels that release dangerous chemicals into our atmosphere directly negatively impacting the earth.
Hemp is thriving as an essential business during Covid-19 while also providing vast opportunities as a high-growth industry across the globe. From the health and wellness benefits of CBD, to the positive impact on our environment – hemp is restorative, replenishing, and regenerating the balance for air, soil and water. Looking at hemp productivity from the last three years in the US alone, farmers went from 27,000+ acres of hemp cultivated in August 2018, 128,000+ acres in 2019, and now in 2020 during a global pandemic, it has surpassed 465,000+ acres.
Harmony works with entrepreneurs and corporations to create their own lines of high quality CBD and hemp-derived products. These products have been proven to offer viable options for alternative medicine and sustainable beauty and wellness.
